STONE CARE
Bengal
Daily Cleaning: We recommend Ivory Dish Soap only because it is made without animal fats and is free of dyes. Many other brands contain fats, dyes and scents which may damage some stones. These brands include Dove, Dawn, and antibacterial soaps. We suggest never using Windex on granite, no matter what other people say. The ammonia reacts differently to different stones and can cause permanent streaking. Avoid using detergents that can be abrasive and contain chemicals which are highly acid or alkaline. Some stone cleaners have a petroleum or animal fat base which may alter the appearance of your stone, so be cautious when choosing products to use. They can darken the stone and leave a residue which in time can build up and turn lighter stones yellow.

Sealing: Every countertop that we install is pre-sealed at our facility or immediately after installation. Typically, we recommend re-sealing your countertops once a year or whenever you start to see water stains stay in the stone for a few minutes after you wipe the surface water off. It is easy and inexpensive to re-seal your countertops. Your stone has been sealed with the following sealers and we recommend and sell these sealers at our office for re-sealing purposes.
Dark granites: Miracle Sealants 511 Impregnator - $20.00 plus tax.
midline
Light granites, marbles and limestones: Miracle Sealants 511 Porous Plus - $40.00 plus tax.
If you prefer, we can re-seal your counters for you and, at the same time, repair any chips that you may have in your counters. The set fee for this service is $250.00. Please contact Conor Williams by phone at 262-522-6335 or by e-mail to schedule.

Special Care for Marble and Limestone: Please note that no sealer is 100 percent effective in preventing acid from etching marbles, limestones or other calcium carbonate based stones. For this reason it is necessary to clean up spills on these stones as quickly as possible to minimize any etching that may occur. The same is not true of granites which are quartz based stones and are consequently more durable than marble or limestone.

Special Care for Quartz Surface Material such as Caesar Stone: Do not seal Caesar Stone. Visit the care section of the Caesar Stone Web site and follow their recommended care instructions for this unique material.

Further Information: For more detailed information on caring for natural stone, we suggest you visit the care section of the Marble Institute of America Web site, and the Miracle Sealants Web site.
